Meeting the Mayor, Another Meet and Greet, and More!

We have lots of Firebirds' news to update you on!

Hello and happy Monday! We hope you took advantage of the Firebirds’ historic Black Friday deal—50% off season tickets—this weekend. Today, I have some fun Firebirds news to share with you, so let’s jump right in!

Another Meet and Greet (and mini-camp)!

Yup, that’s right! As you may have remembered me mentioning (again and again and again), the Firebirds had a meet and greet on November 9th, where Firebirds partners, fans, and staff came together to get to know one another better and prepare for the upcoming season. It was a ton of fun, and because it was so successful, we’re doing it again! There are no restrictions on who can come, but this meet and greet is targeted towards those who weren’t able to make it last time.

The official invitation will be coming soon, but the date to save in your calendar is Saturday, January 11th, from 6-8 PM. We’ll also have one of our mini-camps that weekend, which you’ll hear more about at the meet and greet.

Janet Cowell

Last weekend, Mayor-elect Janet Cowell stopped by our coaches’ meeting to lend support from the city and to get into the excitement of the Firebirds 2025 season! Cowell will also be tossing up the jump ball at our home opener. With her and the rest of the city behind us, there’s only one direction for the Firebirds to go, and that’s up!

Volunteering at NC Food Bank December 6th

On Friday, December 6th, the Firebirds and our partners will volunteer at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. This is always a great opportunity to come together to serve others. The Firebirds have been partners with the food bank for four years, and our community liaison Heather Hager has always done an incredible job of organizing our community service endeavors. We look forward to seeing you there!

There’s so much more to tell you about, but I don’t want to make this issue of Firebird Focus too long. On Wednesday morning, I’ll be back to tell you about the mentoring programs that the Firebirds are involved in.

Until then,

-Tex
