Firebirds Take Down 95ers

The Firebirds had an absolutely spectacular game on Saturday afternoon. Facing off against the Jacksonville 95ers, the Firebirds put on a show. While the game started close, the Firebirds began pulling away in the second quarter, fielding a 19-point lead at halftime. The lead continued to grow, and unlike previous matchups with the 95ers, we blew out Jacksonville by 32 points.

Top Performers:

Dreko Palmer: 30 points, 5 rebounds, 80% shooting from 👌

Jeremiah Pope: 23 points, 3-for-3 from 👌

Julian Gamble: 13 points, 14 rebounds, 63% shooting from the field

Firebirds Narrowly Defeat Buccaneers

One day after that wonderful home victory, the Firebirds hit the road and traveled to Savannah, Georgia. In a close battle against the Buccaneers, the Firebirds emerged victorious, escaping to Raleigh with a four-point win.

The Firebirds’ record has improved with the win to 12-3! This ties us with the Tampa Bay Titans for first in the South Atlantic Division. They haven’t played a game since we beat them on April 12th, but with an 8-2 record, we’re now tied with a win percentage of 80%. Our next home game is against the Titans on May 9th, which will be an absolute show! Make sure to order tickets early here.

The Debut of Donte Greene

This weekend was especially exciting because it saw the debut of a new Firebird: Donte Greene. The 6’11” forward has the most decorated resume of any Firebirds player. After spending one year at Syracuse University, Greene was drafted in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft, where he spent four seasons playing with the Sacramento Kings.

Now, at 37 years old, Greene is playing with the Firebirds, adding another incredible veteran presence to the squad. In his debut on Saturday, Greene put up 6 points and 3 rebounds in under 20 minutes of action. He’s still getting used to the team and the Firebirds’ playstyle, but within a few games, Greene will be dominating and wrecking havoc in the South Atlantic Division.

Make sure to stay tuned for Wednesday’s edition, where we’ll preview a cool summer camp we’re participating in and some of our awesome sponsors!

Until then,
