The Latest Firebird Training Camp Invites

These are guys to get very excited about!!

Happy Monday! Today, I’m here to inform you about the Firebirds’ latest training camp invites. You’ll be seeing all of these players at training camp and some on the court for the Firebirds this year! Let’s introduce who’s been announced so far:

First on the list is Boubacar Diakite! Diakite is leading the way for the 2025 players, and the Firebirds believe he’s a high-impact player who can take us to the next level. Diakite clocks in at 6’8” and 230 pounds, making him an ideal small forward/power forward. He’s a great scorer and can guard multiple positions, meaning he’ll fit in perfectly with the Firebirds system.

Next up is Darius Paul. Paul is helping to boost the Firebirds’ big man rotation along with Diakite, as he stands 6’9” and 240 pounds. He can stretch the floor with his shooting and defends the pick and roll well. Paul is intense, and his energy is contagious to everyone else on the floor. We’re super excited to have him at training camp for 2025!

The last player being introduced today is Brandon Johnson. Johnson is a combo guard with good size who has plenty of professional experience. If you remember the Firebirds’ devastating loss to the Newfoundland Rogues two years ago, Johnson was the guy who kept cooling off the Firebirds’ runs by hitting big threes for the Rogues. Now, as much as we may have despised him two years ago, he could become a Raleigh hero if he helps lead us to the Lillie.

That’s all for player announcements today, but there’ll be more on Friday (so stay tuned)! Additionally, I’d like to wish a happy birthday to Avon Thomas, who does great work for the Firebirds on social media and other things behind the scenes. His birthday was yesterday, but the newsletter always goes out on Monday, and I still wanted to shout him out. Congratulations, and here’s to another great year!

Until Friday,

-Tex
