Talking About Some of the Awesome Mayors Who Will be at Our Home Opener!
Good morning! Today, I’ll be telling you about three of the mayors that we invited to our first game of the season, which is our Municipalities-themed game.

Firebirds Invite Rolesville Mayor
The Firebirds are excited to invite the Mayor of Rolesville Ronnie Currin to our Municipalities game! The following is a message from Mayor Currin about the city of Rolesville and why he loves it so much:
“Rolesville is known as a growing community that still has a small town charm. Beth and I discovered Rolesville in 1992 when we moved from North Raleigh. We were looking for a great place to live and raise a family, and Rolesville was that place. During that time, Rolesville’s slogan was “Small Town, Bright Future.” Our town has become that “Bright Future.” We estimate today’s population to be over 11,000 citizens. Rolesville is consistently known as one of the fastest growing towns in North Carolina, and according to the 2020 U.S. Census, has grown over 150% since 2010.
There are several reasons Rolesville is so attractive. One is the location. I refer to Rolesville as living on the edge of everything that you desire, but also having some breathing room by not being in the middle of an urban environment. As a small town, we enjoy the amenities that living near Raleigh and the Triangle has to offer. We are 15 miles from downtown Raleigh and only minutes away from I-540.”
Come out and meet Mayor Currin and other members of Rolesville’s government on Friday, March 7th, at 7 PM!
Firebirds Invite Fuquay-Varina Mayor
The Raleigh Firebirds are excited to invite the Mayor of Fuquay-Varina Blake Massengill to our Municipalities game! At just 40 years old, Blake is one of the youngest mayors in Wake County, but he certainly isn’t new to public service or the political scene. Blake is serving his second term as Mayor of Fuquay-Varina, having served as Mayor Pro Tempore for six years prior. He was first elected to the Fuquay-Varina Town Board in 2013 after serving several years on the Town Planning Board.
Deeply rooted in Fuquay-Varina since the age of two, Blake has not only chosen to build his business, Massengill Design-Build, in the town but has also chosen to raise his family here. As a two-generation family-owned construction business owner, he understands the challenges faced by small businesses. His company, Massengill Design-Build, has been honored with several awards throughout the years. In 2014, Blake was named Wake County Builder of the Year, and in 2019, he was named the NC Distinguished Builder of the Year by the NC Home Builders Association.
We’re looking forward to seeing him and the entire town of Fuquay at our home opener!
Firebirds Invite Wake Forest Mayor
The Raleigh Firebirds are excited to invite Wake Forest Mayor Vivian Jones to our Municipalities game! Mayor Jones has been the Mayor of Wake Forest since 2001 (one of the longest-tenured mayors in the Triangle). Previously, she served on the Board of Commissioners for the Town of Wake Forest from 1999-2001. She has also been a part of many other organizations such as the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, the N.C. League of Municipalities Board and the GoTriangle Board of Trustees.
We’re looking forward to seeing her and her staff at the game!
If you haven’t yet purchased tickets for the Firebirds home opener, you can do so here.
Until Friday,
