The State of Firebird Nation

And what to look forward to for next season

In partnership with

TheThe Raleigh Firebirds offseason has been underway for quite some time, but it’s really beginning to pick up steam. Soon, we’ll have open tryouts for players, old veterans will be returning, and a host of other exciting things. There will be changes coming to both this newsletter and the Firebirds organization that will be quite exciting, and you’ll want to stick around for. Today, I’ll be recapping some of the changes, what’s ahead, and what to look forward to. But first, a word from today’s sponsor:

The Daily Newsletter for Intellectually Curious Readers

  • We scour 100+ sources daily

  • Read by CEOs, scientists, business owners and more

  • 3.5 million subscribers

That’s one of the first notable changes from last season: Firebird Focus has officially monetized! We’re partnering with other brands and newsletters so that we can connect you guys with other great reads and continue to grow the newsletter. There are hundreds of different companies looking to advertise on Beehiiv (the newsletter platform we’re on), so even if you see some advertisers a lot, there will be plenty of new as well.

Changes to Firebird Focus

Lots of Firebird Focus will be the exact same. For example, the purpose of the newsletter is staying the same; we’ll be bringing you all the latest Firebirds news, updates, and interviews. The table of contents is also making a permanent return to make the newsletter easier to navigate. However, some things are changing. For one, we have a referral program that will be launching soon! Check the next few editions of Firebird Focus for more information once we officially launch that.

Another major change is that for the offseason, we will be decreasing to publishing the newsletter twice a week. However, each newsletter will be longer, feature more Firebirds news and stories, and have consistent sections that stay and go with the stories. Examples include Firebirds trivia, a picture of the day, and other fun things like that. You’ll see some of these when Firebird Focus makes its full offseason comeback (either next week or the week after next). There may also be some design changes 👀

What’s New With the Team

There’s so much to be excited about with the Firebirds! As you likely read in our last edition, the team has hired a new head coach, Antonio Davis. If you haven’t heard or read about him, you can do so with this previous edition of Firebird Focus.

The team has been incredibly close to winning The Lillie, especially last year. However, with the coaching change, we’re sure that we’ve identified the missing link. We also have many of our core group from last season returning. Who are they? I’m afraid that is to be revealed at a later date, starting on September 15th. Mark your calendars.

Outside the lines of the basketball court, plenty is going on with the Firebirds too. There’s been lots of interest from companies in sponsoring the team, and a ton of interest in season tickets from various people. We have initiatives and promos starting on that relatively soon, so that’s another thing to be excited about. Plus, before the start of the 2025 season (time TBD), we will have a merch shop up and running. Yay, merchandise! If you’re wishing you could pull up to home games rocking Firebirds swag, then you won’t be disappointed in 2025.

Make sure to keep an eye on your inbox when Firebird Focus officially starts back up again; also, make sure to follow us on Instagram (@raleighfirebirdz) for more frequent updates.

I’ll talk to you soon!
