This is Proof We're About to Make a Deep Playoff Run
The Numbers Speak for Themselves
While it’s important to look at a team’s overall record in determining how well they will do in postseason play, there’s one other factor to observe that’s just as important. When looking at a team’s record, you must look at how they played toward the end of the season.
Trades, acquisitions, departures…a lot happens with a team throughout a season, and the Raleigh Firebirds are no exception. We’ve added several players that have strengthened our team since the season began, and a lot of change has happened. So, if you want to look at how the Firebirds will perform in the playoffs, look at their last few games.
Every one of the Firebirds’ last four games has been a blowout…just look at these totals! They beat the Rocket City Flight by 20, then again by 27, Coastal Georgia by 49, and West Virginia by 21. These are some crazy wins and show just how dominant and cohesive the Firebirds’ offensive is.
What’s even better is how balanced their attacks are. The first time against the Rocket City Flight, five players scored in double digits. The next time, it was six, against Coastal Georgia it was 9 (all but two players), and five against West Virginia.
What also makes the Firebirds so lethal is that it’s difficult to predict who will be the leading scorer any night. Dreko Palmer’s a great guess, with how many 30 and 40-point games he’s had this season, but William Vedder has also been putting up some monster numbers, including 40 points in 30 minutes against the Flight. Daequon Antoine, along with Tre Gray and Ahmad Abdullah, can get hot at any point too.
This team will be so much fun to watch in the playoffs, and I can’t wait for May 28th.
If you can’t wait for May 28th either…
