Previewing the Week Ahead

Games to Watch, Articles to Read, and More!

Happy Monday! We’ve got an exciting week up ahead in Firebird land, and today’s where I tell you what to be excited for. Let’s jump right in!

An Unfortunate Road Loss this Weekend

While the Firebirds didn’t have any home games this weekend, the team did travel to Savannah on Sunday to take on the Buccaneers. It was a close contest, but ultimately, the Bucs would pull away by double digits in the fourth quarter. The Firebirds rallied to keep it close, but would ultimately lose 117-121.

This puts the Firebirds season record at 3-2. However, the Firebirds will have a chance to avenge the loss very soon, because…

A Rematch Against the Bucs This Week!

That’s right, we’re playing the Buccaneers again this week! This week’s schedule is different from all other weeks of the season, however; instead of a Friday/Saturday game combo, our home game is Thursday at…11 AM? Yup! This is the one and only weekday Firebirds game. It’s our STEM education-themed game, so we’re inviting as many students and STEM industry professionals as possible. What better way to take a break from the week-to-week grind than with a mid-day basketball game?

This game (unlike all our others) will be played at Wake Tech Community College! While we also play games on March 28th and March 30th, the March 27th game is the only home game this week. So, get your tickets here, and get them now!

A Community Event To Get Excited For

Join the Firebirds in collaboration with North Carolina Central University on April 12th! We’re partnering with Central and NC ScienceFest for a family-friendly day of science-filled learning and fun! There will be activities, experiences, and a ton of interesting science-related companies in attendance. It’s going to be a blast, so make sure to mark your calendar now!

Fitness Tip of the Day:

If you can, walk 20,000 steps per day. The health benefits are numerous, and include better long-term cardiovascular health (lowers blood pressure and reduces risk of heart disease), weight management (burns lots of calories and boosts metabolism), and increased muscular strength/endurance. Get those steps in!

Make sure to stay tuned for Wednesday’s edition, as I’ll further preview the matchup with the Bucs and have a cool player feature coming out.

Until then,

-Tex
