Firebirds Fall to Flying Cows, 113-127

The Firebirds traveled up to Fredericksburg and fought the Cows, but ultimately, they would have the last moo. The Cows won by 14 points, although the game was close throughout. While the Cows found themselves up double-digits at the end of the first quarter, the Firebirds brought it to a three-point deficit at halftime (54-57). Unfortunately, the Cows were able to control much of the second half, and an off night from several key Firebirds players led to the defeat. Dreko Palmer was the star of this game for the Firebirds, as he finished with 36 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.
However, this may not be the last we see of the Cows; there’s a very high chance we will see them in the playoffs. More on this game and the playoffs will be coming Wednesday, in the form of an episode of The Raleigh Firebirds Show!

Regular Season Recap

The Firebirds’ regular season is officially over! We finished 18-4, the best record in team history. After countless games, practices, and shots put up, we’re beginning to see the culmination of all the Firebirds’ hard work.
Nowhere is this more evident than within the South Atlantic Division. There are three other teams in our division, and we have a winning record against all of them: The Tampa Bay Titans (3-2), Savannah Buccaneers (6-1), and Jacksonville 95ers (6-0). The Firebirds have exemplified divisional dominance, and experience against teams like the Seahawks and Flying Cows has further helped prepare the team for the playoffs.
Ultimately, the Firebirds have been recognized as one of the five best teams in the league by the league power rankings. Everyone sees how good this team is, and how legitimate our opportunity is to make a run for the Lillie. This is the greatest collection of talent and the greatest team we’ve ever had, and in these playoffs, it’s time for the Firebirds to make history.

Playoffs!

Firebird fans won’t have to wait long to see the team back in action; the playoffs begin this Thursday! We’ll be taking on the Tampa Bay Titans in the first round. It’s a best-of-three series, and because of our 18-4 record, the Firebirds will be playing the entirety of the series at home!
Game 1 is on Thursday at 7 PM, Game 2 is on Saturday at 5 PM, and Game 3 will be on Sunday at 3 PM (if needed).
This series will be great for getting the Firebirds ready for the rest of the playoffs. The Titans are good, but they’re a team the Firebirds can beat, especially with star player Nasir Core now playing for the Capital Seahawks.

Make sure to stay tuned for Wednesday’s edition, where we’ll have matchup previews, a podcast for you to listen to, and an awesome story on Firebirds 6th man DJ Thomas 👀
Until then,
