Partnership with IV Greatness Academy
The Raleigh Firebirds are excited to create an amazing partnership with IV Greatness Academy. Since 2010, Coach Kevin Gibbs and Coach Kyle Solomon have been at the forefront of youth basketball development through their leadership at IV Greatness Academy. Based in Raleigh, NC, the academy has become a pillar of hope, discipline, and excellence for aspiring athletes. Together, these two visionary coaches have created a program that goes far beyond basketball, transforming lives by instilling character, accountability, and professionalism in every player. We look forward to having an official skills and personal development partner for the youth in our community. If your son or daughter needs skills development, we have the program for you. Contact [email protected] for more details.
Mentoring program beginning at Dillard Drive Middle School on December 11th
Beginning on Wednesday, December 11th, the Firebirds will embark on a new journey of establishing an in-school Mentoring program for 54 boys at Dillard Drive Middle School. The program is designed to provide support to parents, teachers, and students. Most of these boys are from single-parent homes and lack a male role model in their lives. This program will allow us to pour into their lives and assist and support them through the 12th grade. If you have a heart for kids and would like to join us, please email us at [email protected] and we will get you involved. Remember No man stands as tall as when he stoops to help a child!
Firebirds Boys Mentoring Network
The Boys Mentoring Network, a non-profit organization, was founded by Firebirds Team Market Owner Wade Harris in 2012 after three years of development. His vision for the program is to provide disadvantaged African American youth opportunities that motivate academic excellence and social responsibilities by stimulating personal ambition, spiritual growth, community involvement, and an appreciation for friendship and brotherhood.
The program is centered around the principles of Mentoring, Child Advocacy and Tutoring, and Health and Fitness. The Boys Mentoring Network combines all three of these principles and helps influence young lives for the better.
The Boys Mentoring Network is now officially a Raleigh Firebirds program. With the Firebirds platform stretching to all areas of the Triangle, the Boys Mentoring Network will be able to grow rapidly, and positively impact even more lives.
An example of someone who benefitted from the Boys Mentoring Network is Curtis Peagues. He began the program in 3rd grade, and now, is an intern with the Raleigh Police Department:
If you’re interested in having your child join this program, then (just like all the other programs), email [email protected], and we’ll get you set up.
Just a quick reminder that the Firebirds are volunteering at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina this Friday (December 6th), and we’d love to have you join us! Make sure to email [email protected] for more information.
I’ll talk to you on Friday :)
