State of Our Community Endeavors

The Raleigh Firebirds were happy to continue our partnership with NC State's Parks, Recreation, Tourism Management Department this year. We continued our work with Longview Alternative School, connecting students with worthwhile opportunities to have hands-on experience.

We also hosted a community health fair, which emphasized living healthy lives. We had vendors like Duke Health, NAMI, Cisco, Triangle Family Services, and Wake County Smart Start in attendance. Additionally, we continued partnering with Dillard Drive Middle School and their career development coordinator, Ms. Simmons, as part of the Firebirds’ Boys Mentoring Network. The Firebirds also partnered with other Wake County Schools, the NC State Science House, and Wake Tech Community College, which served as the host of our STEM Education game.

We’re excited to see what the rest of this season and this year bring us within the community! Make sure to stay tuned to Firebird Focus for updates.

Today, we’re highlighting one of our awesome Firebirds sponsors: Keith Weaver of Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston! Weaver is a realtor, real estate developer, and general contractor; whatever your home or property needs, he can get the job done.

Weaver met our team market owner, Wade, over 30 years ago and has been working out with him ever since. Subsequently, he became a fan of the Firebirds, as once the team came into existence in 2019, the players trained in the same gym as all of Wade’s clients. Being able to train alongside the players was not only a cool experience, but also allowed Keith to develop relationships with many of them. Knowing the guys who fought valiantly on the court every week gave Keith a deeper appreciation for the Firebirds and all of the players.

Firebirds x YMCA

That’s right, the Firebirds are partnering with the YMCAs of the Triangle! This summer, the Y is hosting eight weeks of summer camp for local youth, which are sports-themed. The themes of these camps are football and basketball, and each camp session lasts for a week. For the basketball-themed sessions, Firebirds players, coaches, and staff will be in attendance, helping to teach new skills and speak about careers in sports.

There will be more information on registration coming soon! If this sounds interesting to you and your child, then text us at 919-830-0305 or email us at [email protected] for more information.
