Happy Firebirds Friday!

Announcing another training camp invite and some game themes

In partnership with

Happy Firebirds Friday! Per usual, we’re on The Sports Shop Radio Show for our weekly morning radio segment, so catch us there if you’re reading this before 7:30.

Today, I’ll be talking about another addition to our training camp roster, and previewing a few more game themes! But first, a word from today’s sponsor:

Another Training Camp Announcement!

The Firebirds are excited to announce another player invited to our training camp! The player who we’re shouting out today is Donte Greene. Greene is a 6’11” big man with much professional basketball experience. He played for Syracuse University and was the 28th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. With 14 years of pro experience under his belt, he’ll be an incredible veteran addition to the Firebirds (just like Julian Gamble). Greene’s strength in the paint and incredible basketball IQ make him a great asset, and we’re happy to have him on board!

Announcing Some More Game Themes!

Per the past few newsletters, I’m unveiling a few more of our game themes for the 2025 season! Today, we’re looking at the Firebirds’ fifth and sixth home games of the season.

Game 5: Stem Education Day (Thursday, March 27th, 11 AM)

Our fifth game of the season is our STEM Education game! The Firebirds have a big focus on STEM Education and want to help connect underserved youth in our local schools with organizations that can provide support.

The unique thing about the STEM Education game is that it takes place on a school day in the middle of the day! We have a game scheduled at this time once a week, and we’re inviting a ton of local schools out to the game for a field trip. The game will also be played at Wake Tech’s gym instead of our usual venue, St. Augustine’s University.

Game 6: College Day (Saturday, April 5th, 4 PM)

Our sixth game of the season is our College Day! This game will be used to invite high school students, Wake Tech students, and local college admissions offices to come out and have an informal meet and greet. That way, future students of these schools can start making early connections with people involved at the university. Additionally, the Firebirds will be partnering with McDonald’s to offer a lucky student a scholarship at the game.

That’s all for today! I’ll talk to you on Monday.

Until then,

-Tex
