Happy Monday! Today, I’m going to tell you about all the work our prospective Firebirds players are doing to prepare for training camp. Firebirds training camp is not a place for those who are weak mentally or physically, and the pre-training camp workouts are designed to test some of the game’s best.

Training Camp Invite

Our training camp roster has already been released, but we want to highlight one of the young men who will be competing for a roster spot: Alexander Peacock! Peacock is a big man who spent two years playing for Texas State University. His size, skillset, and hustle are all things that we’re glad he’s bringing to training camp.

Pre-Training Camp Workout

Firebirds training camp is pretty intensive, but there’s a lot of work that goes in before players even show up. Here’s the workout that Firebirds training camp attendees will be doing in the upcoming weeks:

Monday and Thursday:

1-mile run

5 sets of 8 reps of each of the following exercises: 

  • Goblet Squats/Barbell Squats

  • Dumbell Step Ups

  • RDLs

  • Squat Jumps

  • Barbell/Dumbell Bent Rows

  • Hammer Curls

  • Pull Ups

500 shots

Tuesday and Friday:

1-mile run

5 sets of 8 reps of each exercise:

  • Pushups

  • Dumbell Bench Press

  • Overhead Dumbell Press

  • Dumbell Kick Backs

  • Pushups

Wednesday and Saturday: 

4 of each:

  • Light jog for ¼ mile

  • 60-yard springs

  • 40-yard sprints

  • 20-yard springs

3 sets of 15 of each:

  • Squat jumps

  • Stationary running high knees

Light jog for ¼ mile

Sunday: Rest and Recovery

Hot tub/Stretch/Foam Roll/Cold Bath/Shower
