New Firebirds Partnership!
Dr. Cornelius Toliver, PharmD, CDCES, CPP
Dr. Toliver has over 20 years in the pharmacy industry. He has worked in many different sectors including community, independent, primary care, health insurance, and private pharmacy consulting.
His Bachelor of Science was earned from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. From Campbell University, he earned his Doctorate in Pharmacy. Dr. Toliver holds many credentials and titles including Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Director of Pharmacy Operations. He is an award-winning Pharmacist and recipient of the Emerging Leader Award (2022, Campbell University) and Excellence in Innovation Award (2023, NC Association of Pharmacists). He holds a Pharmacist License in several states and is a preceptor of various Pharmacy Schools.
Dr. Toliver is passionate about teaching patients medication, health, and wellness education surrounding chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol. He has had a proven track record of helping patients get their quality of life back and also understanding their current medical conditions, proper nutrition, and physical activity to attack their conditions and take back control of their lives. He is a constant believer in the least amount of medication for conditions and attacking these conditions from an educational platform then teaching the "WHY" behind the medication that has been prescribed.
Outside of work he enjoys fatherhood, sports, and travel. In the words of Dr. Cornelius Toliver, "The future is yours. Live your dreams, look forward, and use your past experiences as learning experiences."
Dr. Marico Dove, PharmD
Dr. Dove holds 20+ years of pharmacy experience which started out as a Pharmacy Technician then Pharmacy Intern and for the past 6 years a Pharmacist. Her pharmacy experience includes work at community health centers, retail pharmacies, and long-term care pharmacies.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Management from North Carolina Central University. She also holds a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Campbell University. Her area of interest is Type 2 Diabetes. She is an active member of both the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists and NC Diabetes Advisory Council.
As a guest, Dr. Dove has shared health content on several podcasts including: RxFactor (2020), Queen CEO (2021), Destroying Diabetes (2023), Health & Hip Hop (2025). She has also made a guest appearance on My Carolina-CBS 17 (2024), discussing amongst other things how her organization helps more patients access safe, effective, and affordable medications.
During the COVID-19 pandemic she joined forces with other local pharmacists and administered initial doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for the community. At a Community Health Center in 2022 she planned and implemented Clinical Pharmacy Services to include billable encounters such as Medicare Annual Wellness Visits and Continuous Glucose Monitoring. Since 2019 she has worked with local elementary schools to share an annual fun and interactive Kids Medication Safety Presentation. Her reach continues to be felt beyond the pharmacy counter and into the community where she provides diabetes education in various settings. In 2025, she was acknowledged by NC House Representative K. Brown for her "incredible contributions and service to the community".

We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership with New Connections, led by the incredible Gaby Salles! Together, we’re expanding the Firebirds’ commitment to youth, education, and community impact. 🏀📚🌎
What’s Coming:
Raleigh Firebirds Basketball Academy – For ages 6–17, where young athletes will train directly with our pro players, building not only basketball fundamentals, but also leadership, teamwork, and a winning mindset—on and off the court.
Summer Camps – Open to both local and international students! Mornings will focus on STEAM, Agriculture, Business, and English. Afternoons will offer intensive basketball training, cultural enrichment, and hands-on field experiences.
The Firebirds Foundation – Our newest pillar, dedicated to providing free educational programs for children and teens, ensuring a lasting positive impact in the Raleigh community and beyond.
This is a major step in our mission to inspire the next generation through basketball, education, and opportunity. Big things are ahead. Go Firebirds! 🔥💪
