What the Firebirds are up to off the court

Since the Firebirds begin their season in March of 2024, what are we doing in the meantime off the court? Here’s a rundown of how we’re staying active in the community:

On September 19th, the Firebirds are participating in a three-on-three tournament in Atlanta, hosted by Red Bull. The Firebirds and Red Bull have done many three-on-three tournaments together, and they’ve always been super successful.

On September 20th, the Firebirds are volunteering at Shepherd’s Table Soup Kitchen. The Firebirds volunteer at Shepherd’s every third Wednesday of the month, and September is no exception! It’s always great to give back to the community, and hey…if you think you might be free, reply to this email and let the Firebirds know! We’d love to have you come volunteer with us.

The same goes for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, on September 29th. The Firebirds volunteer at the Raleigh branch of the Food Bank CENC on the last Friday of every month. The time frame has yet to be announced, but reply to this email if you’re interested in attending!

In addition, on October 25th, November 29th, and December 13th, the Firebirds are doing something awesome with Neuse River Middle School. The Firebirds partnered with Neuse River’s basketball club, meaning on those three days, the Firebirds go to the school and provide basketball instruction for an hour. There are 55 students in this club, and these middle schoolers have the chance to learn the game of basketball from professionals. In addition, the Firebirds players are mentors to these kids off the court, and the organization helps find tutors for those struggling academically.

So yes, the Firebirds are far more than just a basketball team. We’re a force for good in the Raleigh community, and that’s not stopping anytime soon.

For the good of the community,

-Tex
